I wrote the poems in Practice the day alongside studying Mishna Berakhot in Fall 2021.
Mishna’s opening gambit is a question about the appropriate time for prayer: From which when do we sing the Shema [the prayer for oneness] in the evening? Mishna also specifies that the Shema be enveloped by other short and long prayers.
These poems were my short and long prayers. They enveloped my own personal prayer for unification in that season of my life.
